Summer Time Fishing on the Androscoggin River
The Androscoggin river in western Maine is a great Smallmouth bass fishing destination, during the summer months. In 2025 we had low water and warm weather, water temps have been 79-83 degrees depending on the day. The fishing has been consistent, we have still been able to find fish, and get to areas with our Jet boat that others do not often go. We have been catching bass on a variety of fly’s including craw fish, game changers, wiggle minnows, swinging D, Mouse, poppers, sliders and more. A floating line and weighted fly, or a sinking line and a larger swimming or articulated fly is normally the choice tactic. and for the clients who want to spin fish we have been using Ned rigs, whopper ploper’s, chatter baits, and jerk baits, and we have been catching a lot of bass and a pike every couple of trips.
