Pike fishing on the Androscoggin River

Northern Pike Fishing on the Androscoggin River

The Androscoggin River holds an established northern pike population from the dam in Livermore Falls downstream to the tidal waters in Brunswick. Pike first appeared here in the early 1980s, and unlike many area lakes, this stretch of river sees relatively little fishing pressure. Ice fishing access is limited, and catch-and-kill practices are uncommon, which allows the river’s pike to consistently grow to quality sizes.

On average, anglers encounter fish in the 28–36" range, with trophy pike reaching into the mid-40s. While numbers aren’t extremely high, the lack of harvest prevents these fish from going into “hyper spawn” mode like pike in many lakes. Instead, the river produces a balanced population of healthy, hard-fighting fish.

Prime months for targeting Androscoggin pike are June, September, October, and November.

Curious about hyper spawn or ready to experience this unique fishery firsthand? Book a trip with me, or send an email and let’s set up a time to chat.
